Talking Head
A "talking head" shows someone who teaches or lectures, as he/she is sitting or standing in front of the camera. Afterwards, the recording can be published on the website of the school or institution, along with accompanying slides and / or other lesson documentation, such as exercises and links.
Instructions
- Fill the camera frame and when you set up the camera, film close enough to the subject/object. If this is a person, such as in a "talking head" recording, the subject's head should be almost touching the top of the recording frame and the shoulders should still be visible at the bottom of the screen.
- Make sure the camera is at the eye level of the speaker, not at the eye level of the person who is recording.
- Concentrate on the speaker and eliminate as much unnecessary background as possible.
- Note that if a shot should be redone, that you must use the same background.
- Frontal lighting is recommended to avoid shadows as much as possible, although some practitioners might argue that creative lighting has more effect.
- Note the volume level when you are recording.
- It's best if the speaker wears dark, unpatterned clothes (illustrated with picture below).
