Hungarian Teachers Workshop

Teachers and others taking part in the first EduTubePlus teachers workshop which was held in Budapest on 17/18 September spent two days discussing and experimenting with various types of video resources in the classroom. Report on Pedagogical Framework Published

Report on Specifications for the selection of videos

Project partners led by the University of Hull recently completed work on a public report which defined a set of specifications for the selection of videos to be included in the EduTubePlus video library. This document provides valuable insight into the criteria chosen for the selection of clips and background information related to the way in which partners have already selected materials. It also provides information about the actual video resources that will form the basis of the EduTubePlus video library. The document is available on the outcomes page of the project section.

5th Hellenic Conference on ICT in Education

Elina Megalou (RACTI/Educational Technology Sector) presented the basic concept, goals and objectives of the EduTubePlus project at the 5th Hellenic Conference on ICT in Education, which was held in Syros, Greece, on 8-10 May 2009. Based on the Pedagogical Framework for the effective use of video in class, currently under development, partner RACTI in cooperation with ATiT and other project partners, has recently completed the definition of the EduTubePlus Learning Scenario Application profile. Metadata schema for the EduTubePlus curriculum-related videos

Project partners UNED, Lesite.tv and RACTI, with the contribution of other partners with expertise in metadata, have recently decided on the metadata schema for the EduTubePlus curriculum-related videos. After an analysis of the existing metadata profiles used by content providers for the description their videos, project partners decided on the set of suitable elements for the description of the EduTubePlus videos. EduTubePlus extensions to the EUN LRE Thesaurus were contributed back to the EUN

Following the decisions taken regarding the development of the EduTubePlus ontology, the EUN LRE Thesaurus was translated into Romanian (by partner SIVECO) and into Portuguese (by partner Companhia de Ideias). Moreover, project partner CEDETEL, formally represented the LRE thesaurus using SKOS (Simple Knowledge Organisation System). Working Meeting in Hull to Discuss Pedagogical Framework

Staff from University of Hull and ATiT met in Hull on Thursday last week to work on the pedagogical framework being used in the EduTubePlus project. This framework builds on the work of both partners in work packages 2 and 6 along with the input of the other partners involved in these work packages and utilises in part the selection criteria used to categorise video clips describing the different activities video can support in the classroom already being used by University of Hull.
