Report on Pedagogical Framework Published

EduTubePlus have recently published their first version of a pedagogical framework for the effective use of video in class which is publically available for download.

In this report, the proposed framework is described in detail and in terms of what the team consider to be its component elements; Curriculum, Learning Activity and Methodology. Investigation work into European curricula is described which shows that the approach to video and media in compulsory education is highly diverse across Europe. The team also carried out an extensive investigation into scenario building generally and explored existing tools that support users in developing and managing pedagogical scenarios.
The report contains a description of the process of creating the EduTubePlus Video-Based Learning Scenario which uses the notion of learning levels as a cornerstone and also presents the EduTubePlus Video-Based Learning Activity Taxonomy which shares elements from existing taxonomies (Bloom’s, Bloom’s revised, Bloom’s digital, Koumi) as well as from the extensive literature on video use in education and training.
The generic EduTubePlus Learning Scenario Template is presented which includes generic guidelines and short clarifications along with the EduTubePlus Learning Scenario Builder, an on-line authoring environment which is intended as a way to assist teachers in the development of Learning Scenarios. Finally the report contains an initial set of model EduTubePlus Learning Scenario Templates with sample scenarios from teaching practice which will form the basis of the work to be carried out during the pilot trials scheduled for early 2010.
This report is contained in Deliverable 6.1 entitled "A pedagogical framework for the effective use of video in class / Exemplary video-based educational scenarios". ATiT led on this task with the main support of RACTI and the input of several other partners. This framework will be used to test the EduTubePlus e-service during the pilot phase.
