What is ENCODING?
Encoding is the process that is required to make your video file suitable for the application in which you want to use it (streaming, burn on a DVD, save to your desktop, etc.). If you want to publish your video on the web through streaming, you should consider the playback speed of the user.
Encoding is made up of two different actions:
- compressing your video: adjusting the size so that the video file takes up less storage and can be downloaded or played faster
- saving in the correct format: a video file can be saved in different formats (avi, wmf, mpeg etc).
