Finnish Teachers Reactions to EduTubePlus Service
Submitted Friday, 27 March, 2009 - 10:30
Juha Paasimäki from Kokkola University Consortium Chydenius organised a workshop on 27th March for the Finnish teachers who will take part to the implementation of the EduTubePlus service in Finland.
Here are some of the remarks these teachers made during the workshop:
- The teachers felt that EduTubePlus is a good idea. Video material is hard to find as it is distributed in different places on the web.
- EduTubePlus will give added value for learning as it will lead to more authentic ways of making illustrations
- The type of web-based video service that the EduTubePlus represents is also useful, as it is available in every classroom.
- It is a good idea that EduTubePlus is concentrating on shorter clips. 2-5 minutes is the most practical clip length, although it depends on the subject and the area teachers are working on.
- EduTubePlus’s most important features should be the ease and the quickness of its use.
- User generated mode is also an important aspect of the proposed EduTubePlus service. It would be a good idea to encourage pupils to create their own videos (for instance using collaborative ways of learning)
