MENON Network

MENON is a European innovation and research network providing information and advice to policy makers, education communities, and the ICT industry on issues related to innovation and changes in Education and Training, Lifelong Learning and Knowledge Society developments in Europe and worldwide. MENON, established as a European Economic Interest Group (EEIG) since 1999 in Brussels, provides the necessary insight for all stakeholders in Europe and worldwide to enhance a value-oriented and innovative use of ICT, and to develop useful ICT applications and services of better quality.

MENON develops learning and market intelligence on the basis of an in-depth knowledge by its members about the European and worldwide changes associated with the emerging Knowledge Society. In particular, the MENON portfolio is based on the following areas of expertise:

  • Management of trans-national projects on learning and social capital de­ve­lop­ment;
  • Organisational and cultural change associated with new forms of learning;
  • Dissemination, networking and sustainability building;
  • Support to international cooperation and networking in all Knowledge Society fields; Education & Training systems intelligence;
  • Evaluation and benchmarking of e-Learning systems, platforms, tools and services;
  • Building of e-Learning strategies.

The Members of Menon are the Lambrakis Research Foundation (LRF, Athens, Greece), FIM-NewLearning, University of Erlangen-Nürnberg (FIM, Erlangen, Germany), SCIENTER (Bologna, Italy), and the Tavistock Institute (London, UK), the Tekkillinen korkeakoulu, Lifelong Learning Institute Lifelong Learning Institute Dipoli (Espoo, Finland) and the Budapest University of technology and Economics (Budapest, Hungary).

MENON is active at national level, through its member organisations, and at trans-national level, where the EEIG co-ordinates co-funded projects and consulting and policy support activities towards the European Commission and internatio­nal organisations.

MENON has contributed to the establishment of and plays a key role in many important European and global organisations, such as the European Foundation for Quality in eLearning (EFQUEL) or the VIT@LIS network for Europe-Latin America collaboration in the Information Society.
