EduTubePlus

EduTubePlus Closing Conference

On the effective use of video in education:
Online Video Repositories & Services and the underlying pedagogy

3 & 4 February 2011
Athens, Greece

The EduTubePlus project is holding its closing conference on 3 & 4 February 2011 in Athens, Greece.

EduTubePlus aimed to develop a European hybrid, multilingual video-based service for schools. The core part of the EduTubePlus service is an online educational video library, containing about 5,500 quality curriculum-related short-length videos by major European educational TV & video providers. EduTubePlus however moves beyond the development of a video-on-demand service or an educational video sharing site; it provides an integrated environment with tools, enabling educators to enrich the library with their own user-generated clips, to design, develop, translate and share video-based learning scenarios and lessons, to search video-based resources using concepts from their national curricula, and to use video in class in a pedagogically effective way.

The project is co-funded by the European eContentPlus programme. The EduTubePlus consortium consists of 17 European Organisations and companies and is coordinated by RA.CTI (GR). The project started in September 2008 and ends in February 2011.

Target Audience

The EduTubePlus conference is open to teachers, practitioners & educators in primary and secondary schools interested in the use of video in class, educational broadcasters and video producers, publishers & other professionals in the media industry, educational public authorities and policy makers from ministries and agencies in Europe, companies in Educational Technology, researchers in the field of video-based active learning, and social partners.

Goals

  • To communicate the EduTubePlus project outputs and impact to the public, and to all relevant stakeholders. Project partners will present the project outputs and impact; teachers from eight EU countries will share their experiences from the pilot use of the EduTubePlus service in schools. Additional highlights will be keynotes by distinguished international experts and established professionals in the field.
  • To bring together media professionals, educational communities and policy makers in order to discuss and exchange ideas on the use of video repositories and services in education and the role of user generated content, as well as on potential business opportunities in the relevant fields.
