Centre for the Development of Telecommunications in Castilla y León (CEDETEL)
CEDETEL (Centre for the Development of Telecommunications in Castilla y León) is a non-profit Technology Centre located in Spain and participated by the Universities of Valladolid and Salamanca, the local authorities and a large number of enterprises. CEDETEL has the objective of becoming an advanced research centre in ICT assuring true technology transfer among all the agents in our region. It is structured in four departments which are: Research, Business, Public Administrations and the Innovation Centre. Its research fields are the following: e-learning (Tele-learning platforms, educational technology standards, web technologies, educational contents), Interactive Digital Television (Development of MHP interactive applications, Television in DVB-H Mobility), Technologies of Innovation in Mobility (Development of innovative applications in mobility solutions), Wireless Networks (RFID, Sensors networks, characterization of radioelectric spaces, Radiolocalization), Optical Communications (Design and optimization of optical networks. characterization of photonic components) and Development of the Information Society (Projects of dissemination and introduction of the Information Society).
CEDETEL has a great experience in the field of e-learning, we coordinated the European project ODISEAME (Open Distance Inter-University Synergies between Europe, Africa and Middle East), part of the EUMEDIS programme, in which 15 universities from the Euro Mediterranean countries participated and we have also participated in other projects funded by the European Union related to e-learning such as TUTOR-PEA (SOCRATES), VICTORIE (LEONARDO), TELE-ABILITIES (ISPO) or RECREMANIA (ECONTENT).
